If you know me, you know I like to deep dive into my creative practice! I really wanted to run a New Year creative re-set, so I have decided to have some fun, and go all out, and make it a one off special mini-course!
While I've been ill with Covid, it has given me extra time to reflect and it turned out to be the perfect time to create this course. It's been really fun designing it, and I really hope some of you will join in!
I am running it on my Patreon. You can join in the rest of the course without having to join my Patreon, but as a bonus, if you do sign up to the course, you get access to all of my Patreon for the month while the course runs!
I have set it up so you pay a £5 deposit. It will only go ahead if I get 5 people signing up. If you want to join in, go to my Patreon profile and sign up to the Creative re-set mini course tier, which I have set at £5, which is your deposit. If 5 people sign up, I will press "go" on the course, and will change the Tier to £40 so you will be charged the remaining £40 on January the 1st. If fewer than 5 people sign up, I will issue a re-fund to anyone who has paid the deposit.
Course description: During the Christmas holidays, whether you celebrate the actual day or not, it gives you a chance to stop the daily grind, and generally, I find myself with thoughts popping up in my head: plans for the year ahead, ideas about my work, mistakes I made, breakthroughs... Last year I ran a “creative contemplation” month for my Patreon in January, and I found it a really helpful way for me to start the year. It’s all too easy to make work without taking the time to step back and reflect on where you are and where you would like to be. So this is your chance to do exactly that. During this month, we will take that time together. There will be a weekly exercise, including two bonus live exercises with me, and the a Zoom at the end of the week to report back to each other and discuss our findings. I will help you if you are struggling, and by the end you should have a clear path to lead you through 2022 with intention. Whatever the year may bring, I will help you face it with the best foot first! WEEK 1 - REFLECT AND LEARN This week we will take some time to reflect back on 2021.
Weekly exercise: You will bring everything you have done, either physically or virtually (on a computer, ipad or phone), and choose 3 pieces of artwork that you think are significant. I have designed a worksheet to help you critically reflect on these three pieces, and take those learnings with you into 2022. Weekly Zoom - session 1: We will end the week with a Zoom session to discuss our weekly exercise, and I can help with any knotty issues. WEEK 2 - TAKE STOCK This is the week we take stock, reflect on who we are, and what we like! This is the week you say: this is what I like. These are the type of marks that excite me. This is what I am inspired by! This is your chance to really investigate which type of art and illustration excites you, and why!
Weekly exercise: This is very much like last week, but this time you will select three images that inspire you. They could be from a fellow artist, alive or dead, contemporary or medieval, a photo that makes your heart pound, what matters is that you find them exciting. You will then use the worksheet I have designed to help you take learnings from these three pieces, and take those learnings with you into 2022. Live Zoom - Bonus exercise: We will start the week with a live session (I will record for those that can’t make it). It will be a live intuitive art making 30 minute Zoom session, where we tap into our unconscious and make some art unencumbered by rules, taste or judgement. I will lead you through a set of exercises designed to help you let go, and begin to follow your instinct. Weekly Zoom - session 2: We will end the week with a Zoom session to discuss our weekly exercise, and I can help with any knotty issues.
WEEK 3 - VISUALISE This is the week to dream big! If you find yourself pulled in different directions, I will help you create a clear picture for your future and begin to get specific on what you want for your creative future self!
Live Zoom - Bonus exercise: We will start the week with a live Zoom session (I will record for those that can’t make it) where I will guide you through a visualisation to help you picture what you might want for your future, and dream big. Weekly exercise: Taking the visualisation you did at the beginning of the week, you will then use the worksheet I have designed to help you capture your thoughts and goals for the future, and dream big! Weekly Zoom session 3: We will end the week with a Zoom session to discuss our weekly exercise, and I can help with any knotty issues. WEEK 4 - MANIFESTO
Pulling it all together.
Weekly Exercise: I have designed a worksheet to help you bring everything we have done over the month together. The questions will help you get to know yourself better, and you will end with a summary page and manifesto to pin to your wall to say: this is who I am and this is what I will de doing this year. Keeping it clear, concise and inspiring! Weekly Zoom session 4: We will end the week with a Zoom session to discuss our weekly exercise, and I can help with any knotty issues.
